World Premiere Comedy at Ellen Theatre
The Ellen Theatre announces the world premiere of a new comedy, Just Add Water, at the historic playhouse this May. Known for Broadway plays and hit musicals, The Ellen presents this original piece in conjunction with Montana TheatreWorks, producers of last year’s Fiddler on the Roof, Boeing Boeing and White Christmas. Penned by Emmy-winning writer John Ludin, Just Add Water is the comic and touching tale of an enigmatic father’s three sons, each on a different path in life. Adding laughs to this offbeat sibling reunion are a philosophical repairman, disgruntled ex-fiancé, Becky the phone operator and loopy Aunt Maggie. The Ellen Theatre has assembled a veteran cast for Just Add Water, which includes Joel Jahnke, Rhonda Smith, Mark Richard, Kathy Jahnke, Keith Krutchkoff, Val Andrews and Harry Jahnke. With Ludin at the helm as director, set design is by M.A. Hare, costume design by Michael Dixon, and Angela Hoffman serves as stage manager.
Opening night of Just Add Water is Friday, May 12 at 7:30 PM and there are five subsequent performances: May 14, 20 and 21, also at 7:30 PM, and two 3 PM matinee performances on May 15 and 22. Reserved seats are $17 for Adults, and $15 for Seniors (55+) and Students (High School and MSU). Tickets may be purchased at theellentheatre.com. Please note, there are adult themes and some language; recommended for audiences ages 15 and up. Beer, wine, and other refreshments, which may be brought into the theatre, are served in the lobby beginning one hour prior to curtain. If you have questions, or wish to purchase tickets over the phone, please call The Ellen box office at 585-5885.
