WMPAC presents weekend of comedy, soundtracked landscape tour
Big Sky’s Warren Miller Performing Arts Center is delivering Southwest Montana audiences plenty of opportunities to experience live entertainment by national acts this winter.
Next up is a weekend of laughs courtesy of The Second City and Roy Wood Jr. on Friday and Saturday, January 7th and 8th, respectively. Show times are 5:30pm and 8pm each night. Run time is 100 minutes. Tickets range $14–$39.
Legendary Chicago improv comedy group The Second City comes to WMPAC for, you guessed it, the second time. Since its founding in 1959, Second City has expanded to both Toronto and Hollywood, and has spawned several generations of the world’s most iconic comedians. See an original improv performance by select members of the current cast on the first night of the second annual Big Sky Laugh Fest. 16+.
Standup comedian Roy Wood, Jr. joined the Emmy-nominated The Daily Show with Trevor Noah as a correspondent in 2015. He has gone on to film two standup specials with Comedy Central, the second of which remains the network’s highest-rated original stand-up premiere. Standup comedian Helen Hong, a longtime favorite on NPR’s Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me, will open. Leave the kids at home and come for an adults only night of laughs. 18+.
An additional chance at live, interactive entertainment follows with the In a Landscape: Classical Music in the Wild on
Saturday and Sunday, January 22nd and 23rd. Show time is 3pm each day. Run time is 80 minutes. Tickets range $25–$35.
In a Landscape returns this year to again be the soundtrack to your outdoor experience. Classical pianist Hunter Noack will perform on the Big Sky Resort golf course while audience members make their way through a custom-designed track around him. Each audience member will be given a custom set of high-quality wireless headphones that broadcasts the hour-long live performance as they explore Big Sky’s stunning landscape by ski, snowshoe or foot. All ages.
Note: proof of negative COVID test within 72 hours of showtime or proof of vaccination required for entry to all WMPAC events.
