Big Sky’s Warren Miller Performing Arts Center offers Southwest Montana audiences plenty of opportunities to experience live stage entertainment this winter season.
Next up is the throat-singing Alash Ensemble on March 4th. Masters of Tuvan throat singing, a remarkable technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time, they’re also masters of traditional Tuvan instruments. They are deeply committed to traditional Tuvan music and culture, and at the same time they are fans of western music. Believing that traditional music must constantly evolve, these talented musicians subtly infuse their songs with western elements, creating their own unique style that is fresh and new but still true to their Tuvan musical heritage.
Following on March 8th is a performance by James Sewell Ballet. The visionary creation of Sally Rousse and James Sewell has redefined contemporary ballet for more than three decades. This final performance marks over ten years of captivating WMPAC audiences with a unique blend of classical ballet’s elegance, modern dance’s freedom and vaudeville’s innovative spirit.
Piano duo Anderson & Roe perform on March 16th. Known for their adrenalized performances, original compositions and innovative music videos, Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe are reshaping the piano duo experience for the 21st century. They bring their signature style to Big Sky that the Miami Herald describes as “rock stars of the classical music world.” The duo aims to make classical music a relevant and powerful force globally, captivating audiences with each performance.
Enjoy percussive dance and cultural performance by Step Afrika! on March 22nd. Fusing explosive footwork, vibrant choreography and contemporary African movement, their performances are unforgettable. Drawing from percussive dance styles of historically African American fraternities and sororities, traditional African dances and modern dance forms, each show becomes a powerful blend of rhythm, storytelling and community. With interactive elements that include songs, humor and audience participation, every performance is unique and filled with boundless energy.
