Join your friends and neighbors for a summer favorite returning to the Emerson this month. Lunch on the Lawn will unfold every Wednesday from 11:30am–1:30pm, July 10th through July 31st.
A favorite Bozeman tradition, this free community event features live music, local food vendors and children’s activities. Entertain the kids while enjoying music and mingling with other parents. Or, get away from your desk and soak up some sunshine on the Emerson’s west lawn. Here’s a look at the upcoming music lineup.
Opening the series on July 10th is Emma & the Ledge. The duo skillfully creates a sound that’s luminous and atmospheric, yet energizing enough to send an audience to their feet. Their music weaves together blues, alternative, rock, folk and independent styles utilizing a mix of acoustic and electric guitars.
West Dakota Stutter follow with a July 17th performance. Featuring some of Bozeman’s most seasoned musicians, the multi-piece delivers a fun, folk-rock sound with originals and cuts from the members’ previous projects.
Estelle & the North Black Band are set for July 24th. The four-piece ensemble brings decades of experience in a variety of styles and genres like blues, rock and jazz. The band captures the essence of each genre while also bringing a unique flair to every performance.
Closing out the series on July 31st are Little Jane & the Pistol Whips. Locally born lead singer Ashly Jane’s dynamic voice has a vintage country feel like Loretta Lynn, covering a breadth of ballads to barn dance top tapping tunes that delight audiences across the Big Sky and beyond. Inspired by the mountains and prairies of Montana from the winding passes to lonely dusty roads, Little Jane’s new album, The Long Road Ahead, is a love letter to the Treasure State.
Numerous food vendors will be on site during each event for those who don’t feel like packing a lunch. Delish! All events are free and open to the public. Also on the above Wednesdays, the Emerson will host Community Open Mic Nights with closing performances by four local bands: Plurb on July 10th, Group Hug on July 17th, Trio Grandio on July 24th and STiLGONE on July 31st. The events will feature food vendors, local artists and family activities and will be held from 5–8pm each night.
Located at 111 S Grand Ave., the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture serves as a primary resource for the arts, arts education, and cultural activities in Southwest Montana. Learn more about Lunch on the Lawn and other happenings at www.theemerson.org. •
