Verge Theater is delighted to present an unforgettable run of theater with Jen Silverman’s The Moors at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture. Performances will be held April 9th through April 19th. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7pm, with a Sunday matinee to follow at 3pm.
Directed by David Wintersteen, this wicked gothic comedy gleefully twists the conventions of the classic Victorian novel.
Set on a bleak, windswept English moor, the play follows two eccentric sisters and a naïve governess – but where is the man of the manor, and where is the child she is supposed to look after? And can their mastiff negotiate a cross-species relationship with a moor-hen? What follows is a darkly comic exploration of longing, repression, ambition and desire.

Blending the brooding atmosphere of the Brontë sisters with modern wit and surreal humor, The Moors delivers quick-fire dialogue, unexpected twists, and delightfully offbeat characters. Equal parts gothic parody and existential comedy, this smart, subversive theatrical romp skewers romantic mythologies while celebrating the messy, unpredictable business of being human. The deliciously weird stage adaptation is not to be missed!
Tickets for The Moors are available for purchase now for $35. Visit www.vergetheater.com for reservations and further information about educational opportunities for aspiring thespians. •
