Verge Theater is thrilled to present the stage comedy, Fuddy Meers, from Pulitzer-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture. Performances begin June 14th and run through June 30th. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7pm, with a pair of 3pm Sunday matinees to follow the second and third weekends. Note: the opening show will begin at 7:30pm following the first summer Art Walk.
Fuddy Meers follows protagonist Claire (Nicole Wheeler), who has a rare form of psychogenic amnesia that erases her memory whenever she goes to sleep. There is her chipper husband (Elijah Boyd), her pot-smoking daughter (Isabel Huston), her mother (Katie Mangett) – a recent stroke victim whose speech has been compromised, and a limping and lisping man in a ski mask (Isaac Mills), who pops out from under her bed and claims to be her brother.
Reminiscent of Groundhog Day and Fifty First Dates, Fuddy Meers promises an evening of laughter, hidden identities, and maybe a few tears. This irreverent comedy, and its assortment of character personalities, is a delightful assault on the senses. It’s funny, touching and provocative, a spicy combination that makes for some winning theatre. Due to adult language and themes, this production is recommended for audiences aged 16+.
Tickets for Fuddy Meers are available for purchase now for a suggested price of $35 with a “Pay What You Wish” option. Visit www.vergetheater.com for reservations and further information about educational opportunities for aspiring thespians. •
