Join the Montana Movement Arts Center (the MAC) in celebrating its third year in Bozeman on Friday, January 29th, with an open house party and new gallery opening titled “Movement Outdoors.”
The opening features a debut exhibit by local photographer Amy Henkle of Boke Photography featuring the dynamic expression of people and pets interacting with the great outdoors through movement. Most of the beautiful, creative and fun images on display are done simply with “blur” (so fitting for Boke, pronounced, “bo-kay,” basically means “blur” in photographic terms) to express the movement. Henkle’s first exhibit is the result of the photographer’s effort to rediscover passions of the past to refocus on interests for the future. “I am in discovery mode,” she explained. “I am challenging myself to a gamete of subject matters, trying to figure out where I belong in this crazy competitive world of images.” Her photographs of movement in play outdoors are the perfect complement for the gallery at The MAC, the community hot spot for the movement arts indoors, including social dance, other dance arts, yoga and more.
The open house and reception starts at 6pm with gallery viewing, refreshments, and live music, followed with a mini-dance lesson and DJ’ed dance party with Moon River Entertainment beginning at 7:30pm. The event is free and open to all ages. The MAC is located at 1871 S. 22nd Ave at W. Kagy (behind Stockman Bank). For more information on the event, visit themacmontana.com or call 406-551-6077.
