Emerson’s Art on the Rocks entices with winter slate
The Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture continues to present its popular Art on the Rocks series this winter. If you’re creative but need direction and don’t want the commitment of a multi-week course, this batch of classes is just the ticket. Grab some friends and enjoy a creative evening filled with step-by-step art instruction, socializing, and yes – cocktails! This is not your average wine and painting class. The Art on the Rocks series switches up the medium and beverages each session for those looking to learn something new and drink something different. Let your favorite poison inspire a new passion! Classes are held the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30–8:30pm through March. The Emerson and Rocking R Bar, the event series’ sponsor, share hosting duties.
Here’s a look at the upcoming gatherings.
Champagne & Cups is first up on January 3rd at the Emerson. Happy New Year! Make a cup from clay to hold all your celebratory beverages. Vodka & Violets follows on January 17th at the Rocking R Bar. Learn to fold a variety of flowers from paper while sipping a tasty cocktail. Back at the Emerson, pull up a chair for Pinot & Pendants on February 7th. Make a jewelry pendant out of metal for yourself or a loved one – just in time for Valentine’s Day! On February 21st, Pints & Presidents moves to the R Bar. Have a brew or two and create a mask to honor your favorite commander-in-chief. Returning to the Emerson, Pabst & Plaster is set for March 7th. Learn to carve and sculpt with plaster, swilling Blue Ribbon in the process! Finally, Whiskey & Watercolor will close out the winter leg of the series on March 21st at the Rockin’ R. The creativity and paint will flow during this introductory watercolor class.
Cost for these classes is $35 each for Emerson members and $40 for non-members. Registration includes supplies and two signature cocktails. Must be 21+ to enroll. For additional series information and to register, please visit www.theemerson.org/class-schedule.
