Strike announces new partnership, now offers customized farm share boxes

As the local food marketplace changes, Strike Farms introduces innovative new model – one customized farm share box at a time
        CSA farms, or farms that sell seasonal farm box subscriptions to local consumers, have struggled to attract and retain customers in recent years due to increased competition and changing consumer demands.
According to Ryan Galt at the University of California in a study of 1,454 current and former farm share / CSA members, the top four reasons that members leave are all due to lack of choice in the share.
This season, Strike Farms is introducing a partnership with Harvie, an online farm share platform, to help overcome this limitation and better serve our local consumers.
“In the past, we’ve packed a standard box of produce for each member regardless of personal preferences but we know that some people hate beets and some people can’t get enough, and that CSAs can feel unapproachable if you have a food allergy or picky eater in your household,” says farm owner Dylan Strike of Bozeman. “Harvie allows our members to customize each box so we make sure each person gets what they want. This makes our program accessible to many that may have shied away from something similar before.”
Using this system allows each share member to set preferences of what products they like and what products they don’t. Then each week, Strike Farms enters of a list of all crops that are ready for harvest and the software’s algorithm matches the harvest to each member’s preferences to give each member a perfect box for that week’s harvest. The member has 24-48 hours to make any changes to their box and order extra items. Strike Farms then finalizes each member’s custom box and prepares for packing and delivery to each pick-up location.
In addition, each week members will receive cooking tips, recipes, and videos based on the contents of each box so members can be sure they will have lots of information when the question comes up, “What’s for dinner?”
