Stop into Downtown Bozeman’s Wild Joe*s to cool off. Wild Joe*s stop yields crescendos & cold brew
The delayed (and likely temporary) seasonal heat calls for an iced coffee or two! Stop into Downtown Bozeman’s Wild Joe*s to cool off and caffeinate as autumn begins to creep in. And if your timing’s right, the Coffee Spot is also a great place to check out acoustic sets by local and traveling artists. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
On Saturday, September 7th, Woodsmoke Jazz perform an eclectic set from 6–8pm. Smokin’ standards and original tunes since 2009, the horn-driven jazz combo plays a variety of music including classic jazz, funk and latin standards. They also throw in jazzed-up versions of additional genres like classic rock and others.
Andrew Kasab returns to Wild Joe*s on Sunday, September 8th from 1–3pm. The fingerstyle guitarist, harp guitarist and singer/songwriter is known to combine traditional and contemporary techniques for his energetic performances. He has been performing for over 30 years at music halls, events, festivals, restaurants and other venues, self-released 11 albums of solo material, and plays multiple styles including folk, blues, country, bluegrass, jazz, American fingerstyle, American primitive and contemporary acoustic styles. His most recent release, Fish, is available now.
Lane Norberg is set for Saturday, September 14th from 6–8pm. His music is heavily inspired by faith, love, and all of life’s ups and downs. Many of the lyrics to Norberg’s songs are easy to listen to, and often involve elements from his own life. “I believe that music is a unique way to express the kinds of things we all go through every day,” he says. “I want my music to be relatable to people because I think you can really communicate an idea through song if your lyrics are believable and authentic.” NEEDTOBREATHE, Ben Rector, John Mayer, and many other artists have served as inspiration. Recent singles “Me, The Prodigal” and “Summer” followed Norberg’s Chris Cunningham-produced debut EP, Under the Trees.
Local artist Darla Sweeney is back on Sunday, September 15th from 1–3pm. She grew up in the mountains surrounded by music, spending much of that time playing guitar and writing songs. Darla’s original, thought-provoking lyrics speak to a variety of audiences, whether to those young at heart, struggling to find their place, or looking for a sweet story to listen to. With country and folk roots, her simple singer/songwriter style makes for an enjoyable experience for all.
