It’s showtime in Livingston as the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts unveils its 2024 mainstage season with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s 1983 musical Sunday in the Park with George. Following its debut performances last month, the bygone classic runs weekends through March 17th.
The days leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,” Georges Seurat is struggling to make meaningful art and maintain a relationship with his lover, Dot. Sondheim and Lapine’s stunning masterpiece merges past and present into beautiful, poignant truths about life, love and the creation of art.
Sondheim and Lapine’s Sunday in the Park with George runs weekends through March 17th. Performances take place in the Dulcie Theatre. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with Sunday matinees to follow at 3pm. Tickets are $23 for adults, $17 for seniors/students/veterans, and $11 for youth 17 & under.
