Local thespians return to the Livingston stage with a trip to the mythical realm this month. The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts invites audiences on an epic, high-energy adventure with The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical with performances running from May 1st through May 17th.
When 16-year-old Percy Jackson discovers he’s the half-blood son of Poseidon, he’s thrust into a world of gods, monsters, and epic quests. With danger at every turn, Percy must embrace his destiny and learn what it truly means to be a hero.
Adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel and featuring an electrifying rock score, The Lightning Thief is a thrilling saga for gods, demigods, and mortals alike. Brought to life with imaginative costumes, bold props, special effects, and stage illusions, this show transforms the Dulcie Theatre into a mythological world, resonating with audiences of all ages.

The production features a cast of twenty-four local performers, ages 13 to 17, who have spent months bringing this story to life – rehearsing a dynamic score, learning choreography, and mastering stage combat. Accompanied by a rock band featuring members of Meridian, the result is a performance full of heart, humor, and heroic energy.
“The dedication these young artists have brought to this process has been extraordinary,” says Director and Choreographer Andrew Reichert. “They’ve poured themselves into every moment of this show, and it’s something really special. We can’t wait to share the magic with this community.”
The Lightning Thief runs weekends from May 1st–17th. Performances take place in the Dulcie Theatre. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees to follow at 3pm. A special Thursday show is set for May 14th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $19 for seniors/students/educators/veterans, and $13 for youth 17 & under.
