The Livingston Film Series presents a free public screening of Stanley Kubrick’s significant 1964 film Dr. Strangelove at 7pm on Thursday, September 14th in the Dulcie Theatre at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts.
Kubrick’s classic Cold War satire concerns an unhinged United States Air Force general who orders a preemptive nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. It separately follows the President of the United States, his advisors, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a Royal Air Force exchange officer as they attempt to prevent the crew of a B-52 (following orders from the general) from bombing the Soviet Union and starting a nuclear war. Featuring a remarkable cast, including George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, Slim Pickens, Tracy Reed and Peter Sellers as a British RAF exchange officer, the President of the United States, and Strangelove himself.
The Livingston Film Series screens independent features, documentaries, local films and vintage classics – absolutely free – on the second Thursday of every month in the Dulcie Theatre at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts. Concessions are available before the show. UV air filtration in the Dulcie Theatre and lobby.
Doors open at 6:30pm with screenings to follow at 7pm. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. For more information, please visit www.theshanecenter.org.
