Farmers’ market season concludes this month in Bozeman and the surrounding communities. Here’s a look at the local markets where you can find garden-fresh produce, awesome food, novelty items, live entertainment, family fun, and more before the fall chill settles into the Gallatin Valley.
Bogert Farmers’ Market – voted 2018’s ‘Best Local Event’ – runs Tuesday evenings through the end of the month from 5–8pm under the Bogert pavilion in Bozeman. Final dates are September 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Bogert Farmers’ Market is dedicated to the promotion of local growers, artisans, crafters, musicians, nonprofits, small businesses, and culinary artists. The Bogert Farmers’ Market is a place for families and friends to gather, socialize, support local, and share in a fun-filled community environment! It features fresh produce from local farmers, arts & crafts, nonprofit booths, live music, children’s activities, and a plethora of dinner options. Grab some groceries, get that gift made locally for your friend’s upcoming birthday, learn something new about one of the amazing nonprofits in town, and hang out with friends and family – all without having to cook dinner!
Western Sustainability Exchange’s Livingston Farmers Market will be held three final Wednesdays this month – September 5th, 12th and 19th – from 4:30–7:30pm in Miles Band Shell Park. This destination event will have locally grown produce and meat, baked goods, prepared foods, beer, and local arts, crafts, and jewelry. It’s a great place to come for dinner and socialize, stock up on locally grown foods, shop from local artisans, learn about community resources, or just relax and enjoy the view of the Yellowstone River and the Absaroka Mountain Range while listening to live music. As always, admission is free.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary season, the Big Sky Farmers Market is also held Wednesday nights through the end of the month. Big Sky’s market runs from 5–8pm at Town Center’s Fire Pit Park on September 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th. Head up to see 90 vendors featuring fresh produce, herbs, plants, flowers, baked goods, art, jewelry, and clothing, as well as Montana Made products like antler art, woodworking, and so much more.
The Belgrade Community Market finishes off its second annual summer series in Lewis & Clark Park on Thursday, September 6th from 4–7pm. The region’s newest market provides a venue for homemade, handmade, and homegrown vendors to sell their local products. The weekly event, expanded for 2018, will also provide the community with a fun, family friendly setting to buy produce and local goods from their neighbors.
The original Gallatin Valley Farmers’ Market will host its final event on Saturday, September 8th from 9am–12pm at Bozeman’s Gallatin County Fairgrounds. Serving the community for more than four decades, the Gallatin Valley Farmers’ Market provides an opportunity and location for hundreds of local vendors of homemade food, handmade crafts, and locally grown produce to market, display and sell their goods to promote economic well-being and support the development of home-based businesses.
But that’s not the end, folks! The 2018 return of the Bozeman Winter Farmers’ Market is set for Saturday, September 15th in the Emerson Ballroom from 9am–12pm. Additional events are set for Sept. 29th and Oct. 6th, as well as select Saturdays throughout the 2018-19 season. The winter market comes at that time of the season where summer’s bounty is still available along with all of the fall gems. The markets showcase an additional 20 food and farm product vendors that allow shoppers to cross off everything on their grocery lists. Expect to find eggs, cheeses, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, wild-caught fish, honey, bread, Montana-grown grains, fresh pasta, apples, fermented vegetables, jams and syrups, spices, soaps and salves, wool, yarn, coffee, locally grown and blended teas, hot breakfast, and much more. All this under one roof!
Be sure to attend one of these awesome late summer events to support your fellow citizens!
