Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences will continue its popular lecture series with an always interesting discussion in March. Co-sponsored by Museum of the Rockies and Hopa Mountain, the next virtual talk of the season is set for Wednesday, March 23rd. “Cry to Heaven: Golden Eagles & Rock Art in the Bighorn Basin” will begin at 7pm.
Did indigenous peoples of the Bighorn Basin use the golden eagle as their model in thunderbird rock art? Plains archaeologist Bonnie Lawrence-Smith will share her research into relationships between eagles, the peoples of the Bighorn Basin in north-central Wyoming, and the rock art they crafted as a manifestation of their connection with the natural world.
The talk will be presented online via Zoom. Free and open to the public. Find Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences on Facebook to RSVP or visit www.gallatinscience.org for additional details and a streaming link. The nonprofit was established in 2017 to explore cutting edge science topics, their latest developments, and their relevance to society. •
