There’s no better place to catch a show than Pine Creek Lodge whose summer concert series continues this month. The Paradise Valley venue once again brings a plethora of touring acts to its outdoor stage.
Next up is the return of Zoso: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience on July 2nd with opening support from Emma & the Legde. The group embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly wound talent and authenticity. Their live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created.
Ryan Acker opens for Clay Street Unit on July 3rd. The Denver-based act is rooted deep in homegrown southern country/folk and branches into the bluegrass sound that’s heard throughout the Appalachian hills. Their high energy, fresh take on the tradition of American folk and country music is sure to keep you moving.
Local legends The Fossils take over entertainment duties for the Fourth. Known around town for their authentic hippie music, the band guarantees a rockin’ good time. The members have been acquainted for years and are connected by their love of music.
Following a set by Meridian, Red Elvises perform on July 5th. With humorous lyrics and grooves that practically force you to dance, the Elvises’ “Siberian Surf Rock” is sure to entertain.
Hybrid tribute fusion act Pink Talking Heads take the stage July 6th. Although the music from each act is different, the band has discovered fusing the material together writes an amazing new story. The epic emotion of Pink Floyd. The funky, danceable layerings of Talking Heads. The multitude of styles, unique compositional structures and pure fun of Phish. To merge these three acts into one gives music lovers an experience like no other.
Funnyman Rich Hall makes his first of two appearances this month on July 9th. Rightly regarded as one of the funniest comedians, Hall’s straight-talking and acerbic comedy leaves his targets reeling and his audiences in stitches. He is a superb live performer. Hall’s critically acclaimed grouchy, deadpan style has established him as a master of absurdist irony and the king of rapid-fire wit – he’s also the inspiration for the marvelously cantankerous barman, Moe Szyslak, in The Simpsons.
Tribute extraordinaire Pinky & the Floyd returns to the Lodge on July 10th as part of their 50th anniversary “Wish You Were Here” tour. Their performances strike the perfect balance between intimacy and intensity, and the energy and stage presence is unprecedented. The band performs over 80 songs, and seven full albums worth of Pink Floyd music making them one of the premier Pink Floyd tribute acts in the industry.
Bringing back-to-back performances on July 11th and 12th is moe. for their 3rd annual moe.tana shows. Hailed by American Songwriter for their “mind-bending musicality,” the band is treasured for their mesmerizing musical synergy, unfettered showmanship and smart, resonant songcraft. Their live performances are marked by eclectic wit, deep friendship and exploratory invention.
Langhorne Slim entertains on July 13th with opener Angela Autumn. On new album Strawberry Mansion, the celebrated artist shares his struggles with debilitating anxiety and depression, while also discovering the beauty and clarity that came though his journey to recovery. The collection is not about sobriety or self-pity – it’s an album of hope, healing and the belief that we are all connected. If we just block out all the noise and take a deep look within ourselves, we can see it.
Check out the Young Dubliners on July 17th with an assist from Doublewide Dreams. After thirty years as one of the world’s leading Celtic rock bands, the boys return to Paradise with crowd favorites and cuts from their recent studio releases.
Houndmouth delivers a barn-burning performance on July 18th. The alt rock band formed in New Albany, Indiana, is known for their blend of country, blues and rock influences. They gained recognition for their energetic live shows and distinctive sound, which has been described as Americana-infused rock.
honeyholler warms up the crowd for The Last Revel on July 19th. A threesome of powerfully talented multi-instrumentalists, The Last Revel naturally blend the genres of folk, rockabilly, old time string-band and rock to create a sound equally original and timeless. They’re known to consistently deliver “bombastic live performances,” as well as delicate and haunting folk ballads.
Cracker are set for a July 23rd show with openers Lost Canyons. They’ve been described as a lot of things over the years: alt-rock, Americana, insurgent country, and have even had the terms punk and classic rock thrown at them. Co-founders David Lowery and Johnny Hickman have been at it for over a quarter of a century – amassing ten studio albums, multiple gold records, thousands of live performances, and hit songs that are still in current radio rotation around the globe.
Take in an evening with Dead Sky on July 26th. The local Grateful Dead tribute features members of Pinky & the Floyd, MOTH, Kelly Nicholson Band, Hooligans, Dead Yellers, SlomoJoe and more.
The Lodge plays host to Knapp Fest on July 27th, beginning at 11am. The event is held in remembrance of Joe Knapp and his contributions to the local music community. The day of live music will feature numerous performances by the likes of Benn Bussalacchi, Hannah Jo Lally, Cleo Toll, Blake Brightman, Chelsea Hunt & the Ivy Creepers, Emma & the Ledge, Luke Flansburg, Wolfbones, Matt Wallin, Bigsby Jones, Big Ol’, Roadrunner, Band of Drifters and Dead Yellers.
Comedian Rich Hall fronts his second Pine Creek show of the month on July 29th. Robbie Fulks will be on hand for support.
Late this month, Futurebirds bring the house down with the help of the Nude Party on July 30th. Celebrating their 15th anniversary as a band, the Atlanta-based indie rock band has received rave reviews for their unparalleled live performances. Catch the show to see why Rolling Stone calls Futurebirds “one of the most fascinating and captivating rock acts touring today” on and off the stage.
