Sometimes the only way to check that gravity still works is to knock someone down.
Find out what happens when bodies collide at high speed at the Gravity Check roller derby bout on Saturday, September 8th. Gallatin Roller Derby will establish whether the laws of physics still hold at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds’ Haynes Pavilion beginning at 7:30pm. Gallatin Roller Derby meets its equal and opposite force in this intra-league game.
Come dressed as a planet, your favorite character from The Big Bang Theory, an astronaut, Humpty Dumpty or Evel Knievel. Costumed attendees aged 18+ get first crack at limited trackside seating (aka The Danger Zone).
This family-friendly event features food by Bubby’s, raffles, games, prizes, and a no-host bar by the American Legion. Join the teams after the bout at the Legion for the official Gravity Check after party!
Tickets for Gravity Check are $8 in advance at Cactus Records and www.grderby.com, or $10 at the door. Kids age 10 and under are admitted FREE. Doors open at 7pm, and the bout starts at 7:30pm.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit HRDC’s Warming Center. Gallatin Roller Derby believes everyone deserves a warm, safe place to sleep during the coldest months of the year. Visit www.thehrdc.org to learn more about this vital community service.
This bout is presented in partnership with MSU’s eXtreme Gravity Institute (XGI), striving to further our understanding of astrophysics and fundamental physics through extreme gravity phenomena. Learn more at www.montana.edu/xgi.
