Summer adventures are known to be some of Montanans’ favorite recreational opportunities, but they also can be exhausting with plenty of wear and tear on our bodies. Plan a weekend trip to Chico Hot Springs for a chance to soak the joints, feast on some delicious grub and enjoy live music in the Saloon. Here’s what’s coming up this month.
Under the Bleachers rock the house June 1st. The band consists of Scott Williams (guitar), Tim Borsberry (drums), and Chris Heisel (bass). They have an intensely diverse song list, a result of their diverse origins. Tim hails from Helena, Chris from Great Falls, and Scott is a transplant from Los Angeles. A look over the band’s song list will show they keep up with today’s hits – and have been playing yesterday’s since they were a ‘hit’ the first time!
Sunday brings the return of Polly O’Keary & the Rhythm Method on June 2nd. With her top-shelf trio, the frontwoman performs a mix of soul, funk, blues and rock that has won her top honors as a songwriter, singer and performer. She’s known for her joyous, explosive stage performances, her powerful and expressive voice, and powerful bass grooves.
Following with back-to-back shows is BlackWater Band on June 7th and 8th. The rock n’ roll variety group will have you off your feet and on the dance floor in no time, so take a swig of your preferred flavor and get that liquid motivation flowing.
Pickin’ Pear visit the Saloon for another Sunday show on June 9th beginning at 7pm. They combine their non-traditional stylings and traditional instruments to create an original mix of modern American music. The duo takes the banjo and ukulele down the road of folk, rock and bluegrass.
The following weekend features the return of Justin Case Band, performing June 14th and 15th. The ‘70s to ‘90s rock band covers tunes ranging from the Allman Brothers and Three Dog Night, to Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam.
Spend an evening with tribute group 710 Ashbury on June 21st and 22nd. The Helena four-piece lays down all your classic Grateful Dead favorites with every spirited performance. Committed to preserving the legacy of the popular genre-skewing rock band, 710 features a talented group of veteran Montana musicians.
Billings-based FlavaTown will close out the month with a pair of performances on June 28th and 29th. The multi-piece is known for their brand of flavorful old school soul, R&B and funk pop grooves. The band features Scott Morales, Alex Nauman, Erik Olsen, Gabe Bonvicino and Isaiah Morales.
