Quinlan Conley, Mike Beck & others perform at Livingston’s Attic

Just on the other side of the Bozeman Pass lies The Attic, an upstairs bar and performance venue in historic Downtown Livingston. The Attic is a MUST for dancers and live music lovers. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming acts.
Quinlan Conley & the I-90 Blues perform in celebration of their to be released new album, When the Fire Goes Out, on Friday, June 1st at 8pm. A soulful one man rock n’ roll acoustic show, Conley has has spent years performing and touring in various punk, rockabilly, and hardcore bands. Now, shedding the marshal stack and trading it in for a Martin guitar, he deals in a sound of sorrow and remorse, without hopelessness. The new album follows 2017’s Broken Things.
The Waiting return to The Attic on Friday, June 8th at 8:30pm. The Bozeman-based roadhouse rock n’ roll band celebrates the music of Tom Petty. Not exactly a “cover” or “tribute” band, they’re, in the spirit of The Heartbreakers, first and foremost a BAND: a motley mix of musicians and friends interpreting the songs of one of rock’s greatest legends.
The band’s motto is “We bring the Petty to your town,” and since 2013 they’ve been doing exactly that all across the Treasure State. Whether it’s one of Tom Petty’s smash hits with the Heartbreakers, a sampling from his solo albums, or even a collaboration with the Traveling Wilburys, The Waiting runs the gamut, performing each tune with undeniable, fiery live energy and a devotion to showing each person in the crowd a damn good time.
Mike Beck brings his latest tour to The Attic on Friday, June 15th at 8:30pm. The engaging acoustic solo artist is regularly featured at the National Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering. Cuts from his numerous original albums have been recognized as some of the finest Western Americana available. Reminiscent of Steven Stills, Beck is a seasoned performer. His guitar work and warm, genuine style engages audiences with his songs and stories. And according to Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, “Mike Beck plays the guitar like a Byrd. His strings do things that mine could never do. They obey the slightest finger-touch commands like a fine Reining Horse.”
Local group BLUB are back on Thursday, June 21st at 8pm. From the creator of Big Ol’ and Brown, this band of “alternative” performers is composed of Danny Bee, Bill Dwyer, Michael Gillian, and John Sanders.
Looking ahead, country/Americana band Tessy Lou & the Shotgun Stars bring their talents to the stage on Friday, June 22nd at 8:30pm. The band is comprised of Tessy Lou Williams (vocals, acoustic guitar), Kenny Williams (bass, vocals), and Bryan Paugh (fiddle, mandolin, and vocals). This trio was born to sing the songs that tell the story of life lived in the West. “C’mon Boys!” is the rallying cry of the band working its magic for all lucky enough to catch one of their shows. Check them out!
