Poolside in December: Hot Springs warmly welcomes local musicians & soakers
It’ll be a month to remember at Bozeman Hot Springs. The venue features an outdoor stage with weekly live music showcasing regional and traveling acts every Thursday and Sunday at 7pm. Enjoy a holiday showcase and the area’s best musicians this December.
The seasonal festivities are in full force as the Hot Springs once again presents its annual Winter Showcase on Dec. 5th. Highlighting some of the best young bands and choirs in the Bozeman area, this fourth annual event is perfect for getting everyone into the holiday spirit. Three bands are on the roster this year: Belgrade High Jazz Band, Bozeman High Jazz Band and Rhapsody A Capella.
Dec. 9th features the one and only Jackson Holte with a captivating solo show. Frontman of the Missoula-based twangy rock group bearing his name, he will bring an acoustic set of relaxing country music. Expect a healthy blend of originals from the full band and recognizable covers. Also, a little fun fact: he currently holds the title of “coldest show played at the Hot Springs” from his March 2019 set when he played in -30 degree weather.
Check out Daily Confused on Dec. 12th. Playing a groovy mix of alternative rock and funk, this four-piece deems their music as “ski-rock,” even though it’s perfect for any time of the year. They play originals with a few covers scattered throughout.
Bent Records members Taylor Burlage and James Burne are next up on Dec. 16th. Playing a mix of originals and classic folk-rock covers, this duo will bring the full band’s energetic feel to a more relaxing, soothing environment.
One of Montana’s biggest names in country and bluegrass music, Band of Drifters, make their return to the Hot Springs Dec. 19th. Led by front man Ian Thomas, they have a familiar country sound made unique with guitar, harmonica and kazoo in their arsenal. The Drifters draw inspiration from a variety of American roots influences and put on one helluva show.
Get in one last outing before family function overload with Jesse the Ocelot on Dec. 23rd. A veteran of the Missoula music scene, he’s developed his atmospheric loop-based music to take listeners on a journey that they didn’t know they needed. He blends color and emotion in creation of layered music with lush harmonies and intense lyrics, paired with atmospheric guitar and sound effect.
One-man-band Dan Henry follows the holiday on Dec. 26th. He blends guitar with a blues-fueled sound of harmonica and vocals. Combining these, Henry covers a wide variety of genres from reggae to blues, rock, country and folk music, while also providing a hefty stock of original music spanning the genres.
Catch Jacob Rountree on Dec. 30th. Bringing an indie rock/folk sound to every performance, Rountree sings songs with contemplative and powerful lyrics that are relatable and help build the soul. This will be a great kickoff to end-of-year celebrations!
