Some people have the rare knack for planning memorable events. The next PechaKucha Night(s) are set for early this month. The events will feature several such talented individuals as part of its slate of speakers that will present at Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 3rd and 4th. Both shows begin at 6:40pm and feature the same eclectic lineup of local storytellers each night.
In terms of events that unfold on a grand scale, Caitlin Quisenberry will give a behind the scenes look at what goes into hosting the Gallatin County Fair each year and Bethany Green will provide similar insights into the logistics surrounding a Bobcat home football game.
Some events are personal, like turning the Big 6-0. Christine Raymond embraced that milestone by tackling a list of entirely new adventures and challenges that have reinvigorated her life and might do the same for you.
Certain events develop organically with a dose of ad hoc planning. Kate Potter will tell the tale of how folks in Livingston started a NeighborHole Putt Putt Day, which has become an annual tradition.
In much the same way, Linda Huang, who moved to Montana from China, will recount the story of how she started cooking and bringing people together around a table, ultimately creating a community of strangers that became friends.
Providing more food for thought, Lynn Donaldson, will take us on a Backroads Tour of Montana’s most iconic and mouth-watering culinary treats.

Transitioning from gastronomy to astronomy, Lilian Lin will educate us on what to look for in our local night skies and will regale the audience with stories behind the naming of constellations and asterisms.
Bridget Wilkinson, with One Valley Community Foundation, spends a lot of time thinking about the various non-profit organizations that hold our community together, and she’ll share her thoughts on what we’re building for the neighbors who come after us.
Kate Belendiuk delves into the fundraising world on an individual scale, in describing her GoFundMe efforts to help a friend recover from an accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down.
A PK evening would not be complete without a presentation on four-legged friends. Steve Blackmore will share a feel-good story about a “Rez Dog” he adopted from the Heart of the Valley shelter.
Sponsored by Rapid Clean Car Wash, the irrepressible Justin Barth is back by popular demand as the host of the November festivities.
Tickets are available at www.theellentheatre.com for $9 (including facility fee). Students may purchase tickets at the door for $5.50.
PechaKucha (peh-chak-cha) offers anyone with a passion or a vision – designers, artists, inventors, architects, adventurers, entrepreneurs – an opportunity to share their ideas with the community during a fast-paced, friendly social get-together. There’s just one catch: presenters have only 20 slides x 20 seconds each, a total of 6 minutes, 40 seconds! •
