The sunny skies of summer may soon darken, but that means Pinky and the Floyd will finally return for Bridger Brewing’s revived Back to School Block Party, set for Friday, August 23rd. Opening the 6:30pm show is Grateful Dead tribute Dead Sky – also joining Pinky on the outdoor stage! Gates at 5:30pm.
The rockin’ show promises to be the biggest party of the summer with delicious grub and brews, full stage and dynamic light show, and hours of your favorite Pink Floyd music performed by one of Montana’s premier live bands! Advance general admission tickets to the show are $35, or at the door as availability allows. The event is ALL AGES. Event hosts will pour up adult beverages for those 21+.
To top it all off, Pinky is again teaming up with the beer wizards at Bridger Brewing to offer a brand new, exclusive event beer called the Pink Sky IPA for your tasting pleasure. Don’t miss this long-missed tradition to ring in the school year.
“If Led Zeppelin were the band most responsible for hard rock’s vertical expansion in the ‘70s, hitting previously unforeseeable heights for the genre, Pink Floyd were the band that expanded it the most horizontally… Obviously, they stretched out the length – double albums, side-long jams, songs that had more movements and ideas than entire LPs by other bands. But they also broadened the music’s width, with one of the most far-reaching musical palettes of any band approaching their magnitude.” – Billboard
Known for their performances of full albums, Pinky and the Floyd have fronted some legendary theatrical productions including “The Wall,” “The Division Bell” and “3 Different Ones” featuring Animals, Darkside and Wish You Were Here. Their recent tour production entitled “Beyond the Darkside” featured a thoughtfully curated master set that explores Pink Floyd’s darker side and other classics from the band’s immense catalog.
With this repertoire, it’s obvious the band has explored the material… but Pinky would agree that the biggest challenge has always been performing the material everyone knows and loves. The stuff that everyone hears on the radio… The big hits like “Comfortably Numb,” “Run Like Hell,” “Time” and “Money.” That’s the stuff people want to hear, but it’s also the stuff that people expect to hear in a certain way. It’s engrained in us as Pink Floyd fans, as concert-goers, and lovers of music.
