Find your genre of choice with a stop into the Filling Station, a local venue that brings in locally celebrated musicians and traveling acts of every flavor. The concerts showcase a variety of artists, welcoming diverse audiences to the north Bozeman space with performances held throughout the week.
Pinky & the Floyd return to the Filler for a special fundraiser show in benefit of the Milton Menasco Foundation on October 6th. All event proceeds will directly support the foundation with funds to be distributed to area nonprofits with a focus on mental health services or access to outdoor recreation.
Pinky performances strike the perfect balance between intimacy and intensity, and the energy and stage presence is unprecedented. The band performs over 80 songs, and seven full albums worth of Pink Floyd music making them one of the premier Pink Floyd Tribute acts in the industry. You can expect albums in their entirety, and a little something from every Floyd genre – from Syd Barrett to Division Bell, and everything in between.
Following on Oct. 7th, the Dead & Down front “A Tribute to John Prine” featuring friends of the local music scene. The music begins at 8pm. The evening will showcase a fantastic collection of local musicians including Marcedes Carroll, W.C. Huntley, Maggie Hickman, Matt Miller, Dane Andrew Thompsen, Taylor Burlage and Mary Kenyon. In the style of “The Last Waltz,” these talented artists will collaborate on stage as they play their favorite Prine tunes that have influenced them throughout the years.
Sierra Gallagher presents a show by Infinite Ammo on Oct. 8th. Geimreidh and RID open the 7pm show. Blending punk and grindcore in a heavy slosh of distraught head banging, this Missoula-based band will have the audience’s hearts pounding and minds moshing.
The Whags bring their “Mountain West Tour” to Bozeman on Oct. 9th. An opening set from local band Mountain Standard Time will kick off the music at 8pm. Since releasing their Smile Maker EP in 2019, the band has gathered around them a robust and genial show family. Their open-ended approach to Americana, funk and sunshine pop provides a musical tether for any concert goer. The band layers vocal-driven pop harmonies, anthemic guitar riffs and jazz/funk rhythms that conjure swirly ballads amidst groove-heavy jams. Their recent full-length, Routine for Now, released last spring.
Check out Rootz Within on Oct. 11th as part of their “Roll’n Up” fall tour. Bozeman artist Cole Thorne will open at 9pm. The group promotes positivity, community and personal growth through relatable lyrics and catchy hooks. Delivered with their signature easy-going island style, they combine elements of rock, funk and jam band-like improvisation with a smooth reggae foundation.
Midwest ensemble Buffalo Galaxy follow with an Oct. 13th show beginning at 9pm. Each band member brings with them a tradition of bluegrass and American music as their launchpad, creating moments of energy and intensity generated by light-speed bluegrass, while exploring the deep-space between universal emotions. Burning bright in the bluegrass universe, their debut album New Escape and follow-up single “Paint” are available now.
Enjoy a night of river rock and mountain Americana with Boot Juice on Oct. 14th. The music starts at 7pm. Generating buzz with its high-energy performances and party-sparking reputation, the band features electric and acoustic guitars, three vocalists, bass, drums, trumpet and alto saxophone. Boot Juice shifts effortlessly between driving bluegrass and Americana into cosmic rock n’ roll. They deliver three-part vocal harmonies and dynamic instrumental arrangements with a sultry dose of blues and soul. The collective effect leaves crowds little choice but to shake it down on the dance floor.
Bozeman band Panther Car deliver their Lagrange album release show to Filler audiences on Oct. 20th. The show starts at 9pm. Panther Car comes in the shape of a traditional rock band yet sounds far from it. Their amorphous brand of pop music teeters between the radiant iridescence of psychedelia and the murky darkness of dreams. Every moment is a door that opens into a new room. Songs progress through tangential wormholes as in an ecstatic conversation; music that is equal parts meditation and celebration. Their brand new album, Lagrange, releases the day of the show.
Visiting from Jackson, Wyoming, Strumbucket takes the stage Oct. 21st. The music will begin at 9pm. The five-piece twang/funk band is known for their colorful multi-genre live shows. Drawing from a wide range of sounds, their original music weaves together funked bass grooves, banjo driven twang, latin beats, electro-psych synth lines, and classic rock guitar. Strumbucket is influenced by the likes of The Meters, Little Feat and one non-mainstream band for which they’re known to cover frequently, Ween.
MINT! open for Hornbread during a special kickoff to Halloween show on Oct. 27th. Music starts at 9pm. Winner of MSU’s 2023 “Battle of the Bands,” this energetic seven-piece ska band brings original tunes and trusted covers to life. Head down in your spirited costume and prepare for a night filled with tricks and treats!
