Hey, live music lovers! Pine Creek Lodge is but one scenic drive to Paradise Valley away. The modern-rustic space offers an extensive slate of outdoor shows to keep guests and others entertained through the summer months. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
There’s no show quite like a Pinky & the Floyd show. ‘Best Band’ winners in the annual ‘Best of Bozeman’ survey, they’ll be rocking Pine Creek on Friday, July 19th. The Main Stage show begins at 7pm. Tickets are $17 in advance or $20 day of show, based on availability.
The “Northwest’s Hottest Pink Floyd Tribute Band” puts on an amazing live show that’s both note-for-note and improvisational, but it’s their superb musicianship that sets them apart from other tribute bands. Their energy and stage presence are unprecedented! Pinky offers up a big sound and is an experience not soon forgotten. You can expect albums in their entirety, and a little something from every Floyd genre – from the Syd Barrett years and The Wall, to The Division Bell and everything in between. Tell your friends… and time your buzz. It’s a party!
Enjoy live music courtesy of the SlomoJoe Acoustic Trio on Saturday, July 20th. The band is a three-piece rock n’ roll and Americana group featuring a few of Montana’s finest musicians. SlomoJoe is Joe Knapp (guitar), John Sanders (bass), and D. Ruggles (drums). The Beer Garden show begins at 7pm and is FREE of admission.
Hailing from North Lake Tahoe, California, Americana band Dead Winter Carpenters step in on Wednesday, July 24th at 7pm. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $15 day of show. The band has built a reputation for pouring their heart and soul into each performance. Reminiscent of genre-benders like Jack White, Chris Thile, and Sam Bush, the Carpenters harmoniously blend refined musical ability with a scarcely restrained tendency to let it all hang out. The result is a controlled burn, a riveting sound, and a connection with fans that sells out shows and has the band sharing stages with the likes of Jason Isbell, Greensky Bluegrass, and Hard Working Americans. Their latest release, Washoe, is available now. Read the BoZone’s interview with frontman Jesse Dunn at BoZone.com.
Colorado-based foursome Head for the Hills take the stage with local help from The Dead Yellers on Thursday, July 25th. The Main Stage show begins at 7pm. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 day of show, based on availability.
Head for the Hills come out swinging and invigorated with fresh sounds on their latest EP, Say Your Mind. For the record, the band brought a larger band than ever before, including drummer Darren Garvey of Elephant Revival, vocalist Kim Dawson, dobroist Todd Livingston, a horn section and more. The material reflects both the turbulent social rhythms of our current era and more timeless moments of joy, growth, and change – think #MeToo, the current body politic, and inequality, but also relationships, fatherhood and growing up.
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Hayes Carll brings a performance on Friday, July 26th. Fellow songsmith Travis Linville will get the music started on the Main Stage at 7pm. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 day of show, based on availability.
Carll visits Montana in support of his hailed new album, What It Is. The winter-released LP follows 2016’s deeply personal Lovers and Leavers and features 12 dynamic, timely tracks that find him in a wiser phase of life – rejuvenated on a new creative plateau. Carll’s vivid imagery and unique ability to put complex emotions into words makes his music instantly relatable. Spanning from catchy ballads to bold, Texas stomps, What It Is addresses topics ranging from the current socio-political climate to navigating the continuous change of relationships. The new collection of songs weaves intricate and often emotional lyrics with sly political commentary and well-executed, subtle sarcasm, making for some of his most nuanced work yet. The Sleepless Elite are back with a Saturday evening set on July 27th. The Beer Garden show begins at 7pm and is FREE of admission.
Formed in Boston, the now Southwest Montana-based duo consists of Carolina Carter (vocals) and Baylor Carter (drums). Carolina started her career singing in musical theater shows, inspired to find her voice by listening to Paramore, Blondie and Sia. Between her style and Baylor’s Blink-182, Strokes and No Doubt upbringing, the pair forged a sound all their own.
Following on Sunday, July 28th, Portland trio Five Letter Word deliver the melodies. Modern string band Late for the Train will open at 7pm. The Beer Garden show is FREE of admission.
Mix three singer/songwriters, several stringed instruments and a variety of percussive techniques, and you get Five Letter Word. The group blends their signature harmonies into songs from folk to bluegrass to blues and beyond. They draw inspiration from the harmonic tradition of groups like the Wailin’ Jennys, Dixie Chicks and The Wood Brothers. The ladies add their own special flair to create a sound that is uniquely infectious and a show that is delightful, with a few unexpected twists.
