Pine Creek Lodge is filling their winter calendar with a number of shows for those looking to visit their favorite venue as the snowy season settles in. Events have moved indoors but the music will be as enjoyable as ever.
First up, Cactus Cuts perform on December 14th. The five-piece Americana folk band draws inspiration from the harmonious melodies of the Milk Carton Kids and the virtuosic guitar stylings of Doc Watson. The band weaves together intricate acoustic arrangements, compelling storytelling and lush vocal harmonies that are the perfect musical combination of modern bluegrass and old-time Americana. Their debut EP, Lies Are Sweet, is available now.
On Dec. 20th, the Lodge presents another in its “Women of Paradise” series – an evening to celebrate the talented singer/songwriters of their namesake Valley. The evening will feature sets by Shelly Besler, Blake Brightman and Hannah Jo Lally. Dinner to be served. See venue website for additional details.
Treasure State favorites Band of Drifters return with a Dec. 21st performance. The group plays modern American roots music and encourage audiences to dance. Based mostly in Montana and Tennessee, the band also includes players from all over the country, keeping the music varied in arrangement, instrumentation and regional influences. The Drifters’ sets draw from country, folk and blues traditions with an emphasis on original songs, done in the old style.
And looking to a new month, Matt Wallin & His Nervous Breakdown perform Jan. 4th. Frontman of His Nervous Breakdown tells stories about the trials and hardships of farm life and oil boomtowns, to starting a family and following your own path. His music paints musical pictures with writing that reflects the character of Corb Lund, Waylon Jennings and Vic Chestnutt. Wallin’s catalog hits on ethereal parts of human life: love, connections and regret, all interwoven into the fabric of his artistry. His sophomore album, Puppet Strings, released earlier this year.
Advance tickets for these shows are available now, but space is limited. All music begins at 7pm. Please visit www.pinecreeklodgemontana.com to learn more about these and other upcoming off-season shows. •
