Pine Creek hosts outdoor shows by Dave Simonett, Charlie Parr & more
The outdoor music has a much more private show feel this summer, but Pine Creek Lodge is keeping the tunes going with a number of upcoming performances.
Dave Simonett of Trampled by Turtles is next up on Saturday, August 8th at 7pm. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 day of show.
Simonett has spent almost two decades as the lead singer, guitar player and songwriter for the widely popular and beloved roots band, Tramped by Turtles. He also fronts Dead Man Winter, a bull-bodied, emotionally resonant brand of Americana-infused indie rock band. He now boldly steps forward with a shining collection of new solo material for the first time under his own name called Red Tail. The conversational and poetic style in which Simonett writes lends itself to this perfectly, inspired by the spacious and stark Northern woods of Minnesota, where he’s from. Drawing from the outdoors, Simonett uses light, weather and imagery to paint introspective, cinematic scenes that are easy to lose yourself in.
Enjoy An Evening with Rich Hall on Saturday, August 15th at 8pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of show.
A Montana favorite, Hall is renowned for his expertly crafted tirades, quick-fire banter with audiences and delightful musical sequences. He’s won an Emmy for his work with David Letterman, as well as being an alumnus of Saturday Night Live. He has been described as a transatlantic messenger, lampooning each country he visits with his laser-guided observations.
Dead Sky visits Pine Creek on Friday, August 21st at 7pm. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of show.
Bozeman’s own Grateful Dead tribute features members of Pinky & the Floyd, MOTH, Kelly Nicholson Band, The Hooligans, The Dead Yellers, SlomoJoe and more.
Red Elvises are set for a Road Agents-assisted show on Saturday, August 22nd at 7pm. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of show.
With humorous lyrics and grooves that practically force you to dance, The Elvises’ “Siberian Surf Rock” is sure to entertain. Front man Igor Yuzov offers a unique brand of humor combined with guitar-based rock n’ roll that makes audiences want to sing, dance, scream and shout.
Lauded folk blues artist Charlie Parr is back in Southwest Montana on Wednesday and Thursday, August 26th and 27th, performing for Pine Creekers at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of show.
Parr’s latest, an eponymous collection, features new songs and new studio versions of classics/audience favorites from throughout his career. The album is an honest and raw recording of Charlie reflecting on himself and his career up to this point. It’s a musical reckoning that came after a freak accident less than a year ago that forced him to relearn how to play guitar, causing him to take stock of the songs he’s written over his lifetime. Charlie Parr is a stunning folk record that will surely stand the test of time, just like the man himself.
The Timber Rattlers open for Laney Lou & the Bird Dogs on Friday, August 28th at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of show.
Having shared stages with Keb Mo’, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Corb Lund, Jeff Austin, Mark Chesnutt and more, their latest original Sweet Little Lies features singles “Carolina” and “Time or Tears.” They also recently released Live at the Filling Station, a new live compilation including a revamped version of fan favorite “Devil’s on My Side.”
Also in Paradise Valley, Pine Creek presents its Brunch Live Music Series. The weekend offering regularly showcases regional musicians from 11am–1pm on select Saturdays and Sundays.
