Bozeman Public Library offers more than just a vast selection of books, periodicals, and movies to its many pass-holders – it also hosts a number of events open to the public. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
First up, a flick for the youngsters! Excited for the new Fantastic Beasts movie? Would you like to watch the first movie over again while creating magical beast-themed crafts? Then head to the Library on Thursday, November 15th from 4–6:30pm for a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Craft & Movie gathering. The afternoon will be complete with DIY Bowtruckles, wand-making, and more! This event is for those grades 6 and up. Please register in advance on the Library’s website.
Following on Saturday, November 17th, join MontanaPBS for a FREE screening of the new PBS Kids program Let’s Go Luna at 11am in the large community room. The series follows the adventures of three friends – Leo, a wombat from Australia; Carmen, a butterfly from Mexico; and Andy, a frog from the U.S. – as they traverse the globe with their parents’ traveling performance troupe, “Circo Fabuloso.” At each of the Circo’s stops, Luna the Moon, voiced by Judy Greer, guides the trio as they get to know the local region and its people.
The gang’s adventures take them through cities around the globe – from London to Cairo to Beijing – where they explore the food, music, art, architecture and other features that make each place distinctive. Episodes end with the kids back at the Circo Fabuloso and Luna back in the sky, with a reminder that there’s always more to see, learn and experience in every place they visit. Don’t miss the chance at this advance screening of Let’s Go Luna before it airs on PBS Kids later in the month!
Later in the month, join for a film discussion of the 1988 holiday favorite Scrooged starring Bill Murray. The event is set for Thursday, November 29th from 6:30–7:30pm. Operating like a book club, watch the movie on your own time, then meet up to discuss and watch a few scenes. This club meets every other month.
In this modern take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Frank Cross (Bill Murray) is a wildly successful television executive whose cold ambition and curmudgeonly nature has driven away the love of his life, Claire Phillips (Karen Allen). But after firing a staff member, Eliot Loudermilk (Bobcat Goldthwait), on Christmas Eve, Frank is visited by a series of ghosts who give him a chance to re-evaluate his actions and right the wrongs of his past.
Yoga for All continues this winter! This weekly event is held every Tuesday at 11am and noon in the Community Room. Open to all ages and abilities, instructors focus on the basics of yoga, breathing, and mind/body connections. Please bring your own mat and any props you choose to use, including blocks or straps.
Terra Kopf instructs the 11am class. Terra completed her teacher training at the Maui Yoga Shala and additional training at the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico. Brooke Russell, a Yoga Motion-certified instructor, continues to teach the noon class.
