The Belgrade Community Library and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Montana State University will host a presentation on Thursday, May 15, titled “Land Snorkeling for Wildflowers … and More.”
The event will be held from 6 to 7:30pm at the Belgrade Community Library’s new location, 205 E. Main St., and is free and open to the public.
The presentation will explain the purpose — or lack thereof — of land snorkeling, the practice of savoring nature by wandering without a destination. Attendees will learn about Gallatin Valley’s flora, ranging from diminutive orchids to plants that flower once every 60 years.
Whitney Tilt, Paradise Valley coordinator for the Property and Environment Research Center in Bozeman, will deliver the presentation. Tilt has four decades of experience in wildlife conservation and fisheries. He also authored “Flora of the Yellowstone” and founded a flora identification app company, High Country Apps, LLC.
Attendees can register for the presentation online, and walk-ins are welcome.
