Unveiling the next in its 2024 performance series, Montana Chamber Music Society will present the talents of the Ahn Trio and Antigoni Goni with “Balkanophonia” on Saturday, April 20th. The concert will be held at Reynolds Recital Hall on the Montana State University campus. Music begins at 7:30pm.
Ahn Trio and Antigoni Goni explore together on the musical heritage of the Balkans with three new commissioned works for this unique collaboration of classical guitar and piano trio. Serbian American composer Dusan Bogdanovic’s Delphic Hymns are based on some of the oldest written music our culture has preserved, while Sting’s music is transformed into indie classical sounds of intimate chamber music. Paris based Atanas Ourkouzounov’s Lamento et Rock Bulgare, written especially for this collaboration, and the genre-transcending music of NYC-based Rubin Kodheli who grew up in Albania, Belgium, and Germany all in one evening come together to celebrate the beauty and diversity of modern chamber music.
The Trio and Goni’s regional tour will include “An Intimate Evening of Music & Conversations” at Bozeman’s Aspevig Studio on April 18th at 6:30pm, and a 7pm concert at the Ringling Mansion in White Sulphur Springs on April 19th. Find ticketing information for ‘An Intimate Evening’ through the host website. The White Sulphur performance is free and open to the public.
Admission to all regular Montana Chamber Music Society performances is $35 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at www.montanachambermusicsociety.org.
