Downtown Bozeman’s Ellen Theatre invites audiences to return for Montana TheatreWorks’ latest production, Joseph Stein’s Fiddler on the Roof. Performances will begin July 14th and run through July 30th. Tickets are on sale now.
Set in 1905 Anatevka, Russia, and based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof is the story of an everyday man who both embraces and challenges revered traditions as his three daughters grow up and fall in love.
Montana TheatreWorks, producers of last summer’s The Sound of Music, is once again assembling a first-rate cast and outstanding live orchestra, bringing to life such timeless songs as “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Tradition,” “Matchmaker” and “If I Were a Rich Man.” Veteran actor and audience favorite Frank Simpson plays the central character of Teyve in one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
Fiddler on the Roof captures the essential human longings for love, community, success, freedom and family, and touches us all. It is no wonder that the original 1964 production became the longest-running Broadway musical in history, a title it maintained for ten years.
Please, no children under the age of four. All persons must have a ticket, including young ones sitting on a parent’s lap. Time of total production, with intermission, is three hours.
Joseph Stein’s Fiddler on the Roof is presented by Montana TheatreWorks, producers of Oklahoma!, Annie, Damn Yankees, White Christmas and most recently, the annual holiday presentation of A Christmas Carol.
Numerous performances of Fiddler on the Roof will be held July 14th–30th with evening shows and Sunday matinees. Tickets to this summer production are $40.50 with youth pricing and premium seating also available.
Wine, beer and concessions will be sold in the lobby one hour before each event. Ticketing and further information about these performances and upcoming events is available at www.theellentheatre.org. For additional inquiries, call the box office at (406) 585-5885. •
