MSU Wonderlust to host online presentation on COVID-19 pandemic impact on China-U.S. relations

BOZEMAN — Montana State University Wonderlust will host an online presentation about the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on Sino-U.S. relations from the perspective of an expert on China. “Sino-U.S. Relations in the Time of COVID-19” will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11.
Maggie Greene, an assistant professor of Chinese and East Asian cultural history in the Department of History and Philosophy in the College of Letters and Science, will discuss the emergence of the virus in the Chinese city of Wuhan and the current global situation, as well as the social and political response to the pandemic around the world.

Greene teaches courses such as Modern China, Science and Medicine in China, and Modern Asia at MSU. She is the author of “Resisting Spirits: Drama Reform and Cultural Transformation in the People’s Republic of China,” which was published by the University of Michigan Press in 2019. Greene has published on subjects as varied as high-altitude mountaineering to the game of mahjong in modern China.
The lecture is free and open to the public, but participants must register by June 10 at www.montana.edu/wonderlust/. After registration, participants will receive an email with the Webex link and instructions to join the program.
