Montana State University is offering Gold Rush T-shirts in preparation for the September 7th home opener football game against the University of Maine. This year marks the 17th year of the t-shirt design tradition.
MSU fans can purchase the gold-colored t-shirts to show their support for the ‘Cats during this year’s Gold Rush game. The design features the Bobcat logo above the Bridger mountains with MSU’s rodeo team in the forefront at Bobcat Stadium.
Dewey Schwahn, a dental hygienist from Powell, Wyoming, created this year’s winning t-shirt design. Schwahn became familiar with the contest and started attending MSU games regularly after his family introduced him to MSU.
“My extended family got me into the Bobcat way of life,” Schwahn said. “Whenever we get the chance, we always go see the ‘Cats.”
Schwahn frequently creates posters for Swenson’s Auctions in Powell, which is where he gained the experience to create this year’s winning design.
“I had a lot of people help me along the way,” Schwahn said. “I’m excited to be part of Gold Rush this year.”
“The Gold Rush tradition sets the standard for celebrating the start of a new athletic and academic year,” said Amy Kanuch, MSU licensing and community relations manager. “We look forward to seeing our students, alumni and fans in a sea of gold in Bobcat Stadium on Sept. 7th.”
Supplies of Gold Rush t-shirts are limited, and they are on sale now. Shirts are $20 and can be purchased at the MSU Bookstore on campus and at Universal Athletic stores in Bozeman, Billings, Butte, Great Falls, Helena and Kalispell. Gold Rush shirts are also available online at msubookstore.org and shop.msubobcats.com.
