Take a peek at MT Climate Assessment w/ MOR event
Evening program Montana’s Changing Climate: Insights from the Montana Climate Assessment will be held at Bozeman’s Museum of the Rockies on Wednesday, January 17th beginning at 7pm.
How has Montana’s climate changed, what are the impacts, and how do we plan for change in the future? Dr. Cathy Whitlock, MSU professor of Earth Sciences and lead author of the 2017 Montana Climate Assessment, will offer key insights on the two-year science-based effort and what it means for Montanans coping with climate change. This event is open to the public.
Montana’s climate is changing and timely information is clearly needed. Scientific assessments are essential tools for linking knowledge to decision-making, by surveying and synthesizing peer-reviewed scientific information across disciplines, sectors, and regions. Assessments highlight key information that can improve understanding of complex issues and identify significant knowledge gaps where more information is needed. An assessment of Montana’s changing climate and its resultant effects helps bring scientifically based information to the people of our state in an organized and understandable manner. The 2017 Montana Climate Assessment is an effort to present the science of climate change at a level that is useful for our state.
