Make a weekend of it with live music-enhanced trip to Chico
Baby, it’s cold outside! With the holidays behind us, it may be time to rejuvenate with a soak in the natural waters at Chico Hot
Springs. The local resort offers accommodations for overnight visitors and features regular entertainment in the Saloon. Check out the upcoming live music schedule.
Next up this month is Ian Thomas & Band of Drifters on January 7th and 8th. The group plays modern American roots music and encourage audiences to dance. Based mostly in Montana and Tennessee, the band also includes players from all over the country, keeping the music varied in arrangement, instrumentation, and regional influences. The Drifters’ sets draw from country, folk and blues traditions with an emphasis on original songs, done in the old style.

Band of Drifters
Saloon favorites El Wencho follow on January 14th and 15th. For most people, the image of an “acoustic duo” conjures images of two soft spoken musicians singing folk rock and hippie jam songs. This is not the case with the Wench. Two original members of the Clintons, John and Josh joke, “we’re half the band, twice the party!” The guys are no strangers to throwing a rocking good time. Their show is a hotdish or “badasserole” of musical genres and style.
Rock, rhythm & blues artists Gary Small & The Coyote Brothers are set for January 21st and 22nd. If you love blues, rockabilly, surf, and plain ole good times music, then you’re in the right place – they’re known as “Purveyors of Good Boogie Music.” The Coyote Bros are a diverse band defined by its rockabilly, blues, cajun, surf, reggae, and anything else they deem cool.
The Blake Brightman Band plays for Saloon-goers January 28th and 29th. The five-piece follows the frontwoman’s lead with an energetic set of hits and originals. The singer/songwriter’s stylings fall somewhere between country western and Mississippi blues, with her own modern spin.
Live Saloon music begins at 9pm. Chico Hot Springs is located in Pray, 20 miles south of Livingston. For more information, visit www.chicohotspring
