Join your friends and neighbors for a summer favorite returning to the Emerson this month. Lunch on the Lawn will unfold every Wednesday from 11:30am–1:30pm, July 12th through August 2nd.
A favorite Bozeman tradition, this free community event features live music, local food vendors and children’s activities. Entertain the kids while enjoying music and mingling with other parents. Or, get away from your desk and soak up some sunshine on the Emerson’s west lawn. Here’s a look at the upcoming music lineup.
Opening the series on July 12th is El Wencho. The powerhouse duo delivers big sound that relates the Montana lifestyle through immersive lyrics, catchy melodies and driving rhythms. Their authentic music is an eclectic fusion of genres that draws on sonic elements from red dirt rock, blues, country, Americana and polyrhythmic Latin percussion. Live shows are an experiential combination of their dynamic Montana sound, engaging storytelling and comedic flair.
Emma & the Ledge follow with a July 19th performance. The duo skillfully creates a sound that’s luminous and atmospheric, yet energizing enough to send an audience to their feet. Their music weaves together blues, alternative, rock, folk and independent styles utilizing a mix of acoustic and electric guitars.
Dead Yellers are set for July 26th. Founded by frontman Peter King, the music follows a theme of courage in the face of adversity, delivered in an upbeat, western roots format, ultimately leaving the audience feeling hopeful and happy. Sometimes joined by fiddle, pedal steel, bass and harmonica, this group always brings something unique to their performances.
Closing out the series on August 2nd are Little Jane & the Pistol Whips. The Americana/Country band from right here in Southwest Montana performs relatable, original music written by Ashly J Holland that touches your heart and gets your toes-a-tapping. They’ve been serenading folks from Montana and beyond since 2008.
Food vendors will be on site during each event for those who don’t feel like packing a lunch. Delish! This year’s events will also feature vendors featuring the talents of local artists. All events are free and open to the public.
Also on the above Wednesdays, the Emerson will host Community Open Mic Nights with closing performances by four local bands: Trio Grandio on July 12th, BoZambique July 19th, The Love Darts July 26th and Brambles & Briar on August 2nd. The events will feature food vendors and local artists and will be held from 4:30–8pm each night.
