Showcasing an incredible lineup of local and touring acts all season long, Pine Creek Lodge’s summer concert series continues on its outdoor stage at the Paradise Valley venue. Here’s a closer look at who’s performing this month.
Take in some of Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country on August 5th. The frontman calls it Cosmic Country, a moniker that’s both self-descriptive and a statement of purpose. It’s an organic rock band aesthetic with plenty of roadhouse twang, a showcase for Donato’s instrumental virtuosity and facility for melodically infectious songcraft. Bridging Nashville and the Great West, Kentucky and mid-60s northern California, tie-dye and plaid, it’s a world of his own, and wide world of musical adventure at that.
Buffalo Galaxy opens for the Larry Keel Experience Aug. 6th. Keel has brought the flat picking form to its highest level of sophistication and sonic power with his muscular, yet refined playing. He’s collaborated and continues to merge creative forces with some of the greatest artists in modern roots music.
Entertaining on Aug. 7th are Brothers Comatose with The Bo Show. Whether traveling to gigs on horseback or by tour bus, Americana mavens Brothers Comatose forge their own path with raucous West Coast renderings of traditional bluegrass, country and rock n’ roll music. The five-piece string band is anything but a traditional acoustic outfit with their fierce musicianship and rowdy, rock concert-like shows.
Sister Sadie serenades the crowd Aug. 9th with support from W.C. Huntley. The acclaimed all-female bluegrass powerhouse is known for its virtuosic musicianship, soaring harmonies, and contemporary approach to traditional roots music. Formed from an impromptu jam session at Nashville’s legendary Station Inn, the group has become one of bluegrass music’s most celebrated acts, blending Appalachian tradition with fresh songwriting and dynamic live performances.
The Mother Hips take the stage alongside Bart Budwig on Aug. 12th. The beloved California rock band delivers a laid-back sound that blends roots rock, folk, country, and psychedelic influences into a distinctly West Coast style. Known for their rich harmonies, thoughtful songwriting, and improvisational live shows, they’ve built a devoted following over more than three decades.
Indulge in a night of revelry with Shadowgrass Aug. 15th. In their early twenties, their influences and listening habits have evolved since their beginnings, but the group has always grown in the same direction musically. Their commitment to and keen interest in songwriting brings additional dimensions to the band, allowing the group to appeal to listeners outside of the expected jam-band community.
The Hooligans Duo warm up the crowd for Satsang whose Aug. 16th show celebrates the 10-year anniversary of The Story of You. Creating a unique blend of soul, folk-rock and hip-hop, the conscious music collective delivers lyrics that come from and are rooted in change, growth, awareness and imperfection. Satsang has toured all over the country and has shared the stage with the likes of Michael Franti & Spearhead, Steel Pulse, Nahko and Medicine for the People, among others.
Grab your tickets for rock legends Gov’t Mule Aug. 18th. The powerhouse rock band is celebrated for its fiery blend of Southern rock, blues, jam and soul. Led by renowned guitarist and vocalist Warren Haynes, the band is known for electrifying live performances, masterful musicianship, and an ever-evolving catalog that has made them a staple of the American jam band scene.
Joe Robinson returns to Southwest Montana with help from Jody Engstrom on Aug. 19th. The world-renown guitarist and singer/songwriter from Australia is a uniquely skilled musician, widely regarded as one of the world’s top fingerstyle soloists. He is also an accomplished electric improviser, composer and songwriter. Robinson’s signature musical touch and ability to seamlessly blend these elements allows him to create a sound that is truly one-of-a-kind and defies classification within any particular genre.
Honey Island Swamp Band liven up the venue on Aug. 20th. The New Orleans-rooted group blends Americana, roots rock, blues, country, and Southern soul into a sound as rich and diverse as the Gulf Coast itself. Known for heartfelt songwriting and spirited live performances, the band delivers a timeless mix of grit, groove and harmony.
Back with another eclectic set on Aug. 21st are The Infamous Stringdusters. The Grammy Award-winning progressive bluegrass band is renowned for their dazzling musicianship and adventurous sound. Marrying bluegrass tradition with influences from rock, folk, and improvisational jam music, the Stringdusters have earned a devoted following through their dynamic live performances and boundary-pushing approach.
Goth Babe delivers Pine Creekers their “Film & Folk Tour” Aug. 22nd with an assist from JW Francis. The indie surf-folk project of singer/songwriter Griff Washburn, known for sun-soaked melodies, dreamy production, and a deep connection to the outdoors. Blending indie rock, folk and coastal-inspired sounds, Goth Babe creates uplifting, atmospheric music that celebrates adventure, nature and a simpler way of life.
Abby Webster is joined by Trinity Jane and Angela Autumn for an Aug. 23rd show. Her songs blend alt-country, folk and bedroom pop elements, showcasing lyrics that are as whimsical as they are visceral. Her latest album, Livin’ by the Water, and follow-up singles are available now.
Zoso: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience commands the stage Aug. 26th with Dan Dubuque up front. The group embodies Page, Plant, Bonham and Jones in their spirit, tightly wound talent and authenticity. Their live shows are not about simply playing the right notes, they are about aura and feeling, harkening back to the unique atmosphere Led Zeppelin created.
Enjoy a night of outdoor laughs with the Pine Creek Crack Up comedy night Aug. 27th. Hosted by Leah Tiscione, the evening will feature stand-up sets by Paul Osincup, Garrison Choitz, Aubrey Juden, Eli Singleton and Max Brand. Recommended for those 21+.
The month caps with the anticipated return of the Creekside Revival Fest Aug. 28th–30th. Get ready for three days of jammin’ by the creek with 15 bands from across the country. Acts include Andy Dunnigan, Arkansauce, Armchair Boogie, The Bo Show, The Cullen Brothers Band, Front Porch, High Country Hustle, Honeyholler, Jampoke, North Fork Crossing, The Pickin’ Pear, Scott Stewart, Shawn Swain, Sicard Hollow, Silas Herman & the Tone Unit, Valley Flower and Wes Urbaniak. Festival begins at 7pm on Friday, and 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. Single night and three-day passes available for purchase.
Looking ahead, industry stalwarts Wang Chung perform on Sept. 2nd. The British new wave band is best known for their infectious 1980s hits, including “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” and “Dance Hall Days.” With a signature blend of synth-pop, rock and danceable rhythms, the band continues to bring its energetic sound and nostalgic appeal to audiences around the world.
Willie Watson takes up the mic Sept. 3rd with opener Nathan Xander. The New York-born folk musician and singer/songwriter is celebrated for his soulful voice, masterful banjo and guitar playing, and deep roots in traditional American music. A founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show, Watson has built a celebrated solo career preserving and reimagining the sounds of old-time folk, blues and Americana.
And coming up, the summer series extends the calendar with a number of additional of shows. Performing next is Fleetwood Mac tribute Tell Me Lies on Sept. 5th, local jam band Kitchen Dwellers Sept. 10th–13th, STiLGONE with Hot Milk & the Flower Pallets Sept. 18th, Jorma Kaukonen Sept. 25th, Jampoke with the Cullen Brothers Band Sept. 26th and Red NOT Chili Peppers on Oct. 3rd, as well as numerous free shows on the Beer Garden stage.
