The Filling Station is where live music lives, a local venue that brings in locally celebrated musicians and traveling acts of every genre. The concerts showcase a variety of artists, welcoming diverse audiences to the north Bozeman space with performances held throughout the week.
Take part in the Gallatin Underground Open Mic on January 5th. Practicing and aspiring musicians can sign up for one of the half-hour slots from 7–10pm. Bring your own drums or make use of one of the house acoustic guitars.
Boogie down as part of the Good Foot Dance Party on Jan. 6th at 9pm. The evening will feature three of Bozeman’s best house DJs who will do their darndest to get the people moving. Check out this high energy night of dance music with Jason Root, Swoon and Prince Carls.
Jacob Rountree & the Somethings perform as part of the frontman’s Birthday Bash on Jan. 12th. Lost Canyons will be on hand to open the 8pm show. The alt-folk indie rock group offers a very dynamic sound. Best described as a soulful and relatable act, they transport audiences to other dimensions with poetically introspective lyrics, a unique finger picking style, perfectly placed percussive hits, haunting melodies and dream-like effects.
The Dead & Down present their 2nd annual Space Cowboy Ball on Jan. 19th. Festivities begin at 9pm. The band envelopes the introspective and often heavy songwriting of Taylor Burlage in a blanket of sound descended from Southern rock and psychedelia. The Dead & Down will take you on a journey through moments of cosmic flare and pure, unadulterated rock n’ roll balanced with a Western feel. Celebrating the release of their new album, No Broken Bones, concertgoers are encouraged to dress up in their spaciest costumes!
Check out the return of the Cactus Cuts on Jan. 26th. Music begins at 9pm with openers Kyle Hunter and Carly King. The five-piece Americana folk band draws inspiration from the harmonious melodies of the Milk Carton Kids and the virtuosic guitar stylings of Doc Watson. The band weaves together intricate acoustic arrangements, compelling storytelling and lush vocal harmonies that are the perfect musical combination of modern bluegrass and old-time Americana. Their new EP, Lies Are Sweet, released last summer.
Party down with Jampoke on Jan. 27th. Salty Gravy will provide opening support at 9pm. The folk-rock band performs with a heavy jam influence, playing a mix of soulful folk tunes, and more instrumental, high-energy jam rock. Born out of dorms of MSU, Jampoke’s sound is a unique blend of singer-songwriter lyricism with jam-style instrumental soloing.
Looking ahead, Rocky Mountain Sonic take the stage on February 2nd. Openers Lone Elder, a reincarnation of Bubba Fett, kick off the music at 9pm. The group mixes psychedelic jam band vibes with the blues, creating a sonic landscape that takes audiences out of this world.
