After a year-plus hiatus from the stage, THE MAX is back in the spotlight with a pair of upcoming shows. The local legends will perform at the Cat’s Paw on Friday and Saturday, October 7th and 8th, during Montana State University’s homecoming weekend. The music starts at 9pm with a nominal cover charge.
The MAX is a three-piece band from L.A. (also known as the Livingston area) that has entertained and delighted audiences across the country for decades. Since its inception in 1984, they’ve toured the US extensively and have become a mainstay on the local Montana scene since 1993, setting the bar for longevity and quality among the region’s many bands.
Featuring Kyle Brenner on guitar and vocals, Bobb Clanton on bass guitar and vocals, and Jock Holmes on drums and vocals, this “power pop party rock” trio from the Rockies puts out a massive sound for just three guys and has an incredible knack for pulling off spot-on covers of tunes young and old. The Max has two independent album releases, Shadows in the Shade and Vinyl Valentine.
The MAX has opened for Styx, REO Speedwagon, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Marshall Tucker Band and Foghat, and has shared the bill with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Big Head Todd & the Monsters. They have played from Pittsburgh to Portland and everywhere in between.
Mark your calendars for two more Cat’s Paw MAX shows during Cat/Griz weekend – November 18th and 19th at 9pm. Find a complete schedule of upcoming shows at www.themaxrocks.com. The Paw is located at 721 North 7th Ave. •
