Chamber choir Roots in the Sky will present a pair of upcoming concerts this month. Requiem (Re)imagined performances will take place March 21st–22nd. The Saturday performance begins at 7:30pm, with a Sunday closing matinee to follow at 3pm. Both will be held at Bozeman’s Hope Lutheran Church.
Montana’s premier chamber choir presents a story of courtship, love, loss and the search for solace in the face of cancer, told through Eric Whitacre’s poignant secular requiem The Sacred Veil. Featuring pianist Simon Tiffin and cellist Adam Collins, Andrew Major conducts.
Whenever there is birth or death,
The sacred veil between the worlds grows thin and opens slightly up,
Just long enough for Love to slip…
Our loved ones stand so close, right here,
Just on the other side
Of Eternity.
– Charles Anthony Silvestri

Roots in the Sky works to unite the best vocal artists, from a multitude of backgrounds, through the presentation of historical and contemporary choral music in the greater Gallatin Valley of Montana. The ensemble has established itself as Montana’s premier chamber choir through a commitment to presenting thoughtfully curated performances of choral works – especially compositions by living composers and historically marginalized voices – that respond to the complexities of life in the 21st century and the world in which we are living. •
