Live presents nights of folk, country & Americana
Experience a show up close and personal with a ticket to an upcoming concert at Live from the Divide. The intimate space allows audiences to really be a part of the performance with a regular lineup of national acts and regional favorites.
Veteran folkster Ramblin’ Jack Elliott performs back-to-back shows on April 5th and 6th at 8pm. Advance tickets are $80.
One of the last authentic links to the great folk traditions of this country, with over 40 albums under his belt, the two-time GRAMMY-winner is considered one of the country’s legendary foundations of folk music. In the tradition of roving troubadours, Jack has carried the seeds and pollens of story and song for decades from one place to another, from one generation to the next. They are timeless songs that outlast whatever current musical fashion strikes today’s fancy. His tone of voice is sharp, focused, and piercing; he plays the guitar effortlessly in a fluid, flat-picking, perfected style. A brilliant entertainer among fellow folk musicians waiting for you to come to them, Jack came out and grabbed you.
Country Western artist Mike Beck follows on April 8th at 8pm. Advance tickets are $35.
Beck’s unique approach to songwriting and performing comes from a life spent pursuing his two loves, music and horses. His experience of living the life of a real working cowboy is reflected in his original catalog. His music tells stories of present day western themes: songs of the men and women who make their living with horses and cattle. Beck has the rare inside view that enables him to write songs both refreshingly authentic yet with a current musical feel.
Enjoy the talents of Bonnie Bishop on April 9th at 8pm. Advance tickets are $40.
Bishop turned the heartache of a divorce and a hail-Mary leap of faith into Ain’t Who I Was, a soul-filled album that knocked critics out at Rolling Stone, Billboard, the New York Times and the Washington Post. The gospel-infused album hit the upper reaches of the Americana music chart and took her career to levels she’d never expected. Her latest release, The Walk, produced by Steve Jordan (John Mayer, Keith Richards) is a groove-based album that’s light years from Ain’t Who I Was.
Live features a performance by Them Coulee Boys on April 13th at 8pm. Advance tickets are $35.
The Boys return to Bozeman with selections from their latest release, Namesake. Recorded after a long period of quarantine, the album has a familial feel – like old friends with no need for small talk. There are moments of power and punch, balanced with intimacy only felt between the ones we love. Namesake finds Them Coulee Boys following a new trajectory, combining their signature take on folk-grass and Americana with comfort on electric instruments and playing rock and roll.
Country group The Wilder Blue performs April 14th at 8pm. Advance tickets are $60.
The Texas-based outfit travels the borderland between musical genres, busting down the gates that separate country, bluegrass, folk and acoustic rock. Frontman and songwriter Zane Williams was a well-established solo act with a loyal fan base and seven albums under his belt when he and fellow Texas troubadour Paul Eason started the band. Fast forward to its debut, Hill Country, which takes the listener on a sprawling journey through twelve original songs arranged, produced, and performed by the band members themselves. Their self-titled sophomore effort released late last month.
Montana favorites Satsang are set for April 21st at 8pm. Advance tickets are $45.
They return to Bozeman with new album All. Right. Now. Written and recorded during an extended hiatus from the road, the record finds frontman Drew McManus reconnecting with his western roots and exploring a whole new palette of sounds and textures, drawing on classic country and modern Americana to forge a joyful, rustic collection all about letting go and living in the moment.
Tickets are sold at the door, but these small shows are known to sell out quickly! Advance tickets are available at www.livefromthedivide.com where you can also find a complete list of upcoming shows. The Live studio is located at 627 E Peach St. in Bozeman. •
