The Livingston Film Series is honored to present a free presentation of Taking Chance on Thursday, November 14th in the Dulcie Theatre at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts.
Since its inception, the film series has established a tradition of honoring our veterans every year on (or around) Veteran’s Day. Taking Chance is a powerful, moving film that continues the tradition.
The film is based on the actual experience of Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, who volunteers to escort the body of a young Marine (Chance Phelps) who was killed in Iraq, and whose remains are being returned to the Marine’s family. Scene after scene are pitch perfect, allowing audiences to appreciate the professionalism and sacrifice of those in the military.
Taking Chance is a film every United States citizen should see, as well as every government official. The dedication and professionalism of our military is far more tangible with its viewing, as well as the pain and suffering each family experiences with each death. All are invited to take part in this free screening and renew their gratitude and empathy to the women and men of our military who are truly heroic.
In its latest season of screening independent features, documentaries, local films and vintage classics, doors open at 6:30pm with screenings to follow at 7pm. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Concessions available.
