Songwriter, Pianist, guitarist, Jill Cohn has released 9 critically acclaimed CDS, including her CD, “Beautiful I Love You”, that was released on 2/14/2012. This release embraces the singers’ relocation from Seattle to Northern California and meeting Austin-based Guitarist, Dave Sampson.
After hearing Jill’s 2005 song and AAA Radio Favorite, “Rescue Dog” on KRSH FM, Sampson contacted Miss Cohn in regards to possibly working together. The two became musical colleagues and began performing together as a duet in late 2009. After touring extensively as a Duo, it was apparent that there was a deep and rare musical connection and Cohn started to write songs with this Duet sound in mind. Jill says that “Dave’s guitar work and musical sensibilities are a rare find, and from the first moment he stepped on stage with me, I knew that we heard music the same way”. With this new musical connection, it became clear to Cohn that the direction of her songwriting would be guitar based and the lush acoustic sounds began to take shape in her new collection of tunes.
Enter in a lovely small body Nashville Tuned acoustic guitar, and the result was 10 new songs about love, God and life. With her last release highlighting Cohn’s first love of the piano and slick modern production values that she explored while living in Mexico City, it was a breath of fresh Northern California air that led her back to simplicity and acoustic roots of “Beautiful I Love You”.
“Beautiful I Love You” is available at Jill’s live shows and world-wide on ITUNES, Amazon.com and also CDBABY.com. Funded in part Jill’s Fans, It features production from Seattle Based, Martin Feveyear and Jill herself, as she rekindled longtime friendships in Seattle with Feveyear, Bassist, Brady Millard-Kish, Greg Fulton and Stephen Sherrard, who Mixed the project and was a driving force in it’s completion . The CD also includes a host of Los Angeles Musicians: Michael Barsimanto on Drums, Marcus Blake from Daniel Lanois Band, and Jim Watts who engineered the band sessions at the trendy Red Star Studios in Silver Lake.
The CD, “Beautiful I Love You” was named a top 10 indie-artist pick in the Los Feliz Examiner (Los Angeles, CA.) and was titled in part by Cohn’s feeling that everyone would probably like to hear those words a lot more in their daily life, and so while contemplating this, the words, “Beautiful I Love you” then worked their way into two different lyrics on the disc.
Cohn has 13 years of touring history and over 390,000 miles under the hood of her VW Van, is an endorsee for both Taylor Guitars and Elixir Strings, has numerous concert appearances, as well as many of her songs featured on radio, film and television. She was a top-five finalist in the Lilith Fair Talent Search, and has opened concerts for several national artists, including; Jewel, Stacey Earle, Loudon Wainwright III and Dave Matthews.
