Intermountain Opera Bozeman is set to present Giuseppe Verdi’s tragic masterpiece Rigoletto early this month. Performances will take place with two showings only, set for Friday, May 5th, at 7pm, and Sunday, May 7th, at 3pm. Both will be held at Downtown Bozeman’s Willson Auditorium.
A tragic story of jealousy, vengeance and sacrifice, Rigoletto is one of Verdi’s most popular operas. It features some of opera’s most immediately recognizable music, including “Women abandon us” (“La donna è mobile”). Rigoletto is a joker and his latest wisecrack has started a vendetta that’s far from funny. Now, with his daughter seduced by the dissolute Duke, Rigoletto is out for revenge. But he definitely won’t have the last laugh [English National Opera].
Directed by Brenna Corner, Rigoletto features a robust cast of performers brought to life with the help of a talented backstage creative team.
