A free community ski tour for all ages on freshly groomed trails in Hyalite Recreation area
It’s a yearly tradition. Load up the skis and meet at Hyalite Reservoir to ski freshly groomed trails and celebrate the New Year. The annual Hyalite Tour, put on by Bridger Ski Foundation, Friends of Hyalite, and the U.S. Forest Service is a free community event. Cross skiers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate.
Start time: 10 a.m. January 1, 2017
Location: Hyalite Reservoir
Route: Skiers pick their own route and distance and can ski at their leisure. While some opt for a couple of miles of classic cross country skiing, others embark on the long route—a 17 km loop around the reservoir.
Technical: Eric Mittelsteadt, a TOKO representative, provides free kick waxing. Grooming is provided by the Bridger Ski Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service.
Free lunch: At the reservoir pavilion a free lunch is served, including soup, bread, hot drinks and s’mores.
