Hot Springs’ musical guests soak January in sound
Poolside live music comes standard at Bozeman Hot Springs. The venue features an outdoor stage with weekly live music showcasing regional and traveling acts every Thursday and Sunday at 7pm. Enjoy the area’s best musicians during the opening month of 2020.
Check out the King Ropes Duo on Jan. 6th. Deemed as “psychedelic hard country garage roots rock,” King Ropes spans a wide variety of genres with their atmospheric guitar, groovy drum beats, and rock vocals with a little bit of twang. Their sound has been compared to that of The Pixies and Wilco.
Madeline Hawthorne performs on Jan. 9th. Fresh off the release of her first solo album Boots, the singer/songwriter expertly blends folk, roots, country and soul. Hawthorne has become an expert storyteller through her music, transforming pain into beauty and doubt into hope.
Jess Atkins returns for a solo set on Jan. 13th. Featured in local groups Dead Sky and Cole & the Thornes, he plays a wide array of originals and covers, wowing audiences with his blend of acoustic rock and folk.
One half of legendary folk duo Storyhill, Chris Cunningham follows on Jan. 16th. Playing with an array of local musicians, he’ll bring a unique blend of bluegrass and folk music on harmonica and guitar.
Local duo Brambles & Bair, featuring Jacob Rountree and Cole Thorne, is set for Jan. 20th. The alt-folk duo has a unique, experimental sound utilizing ukulele, percussive lap guitar, layered loops and intelligent harmonies.
Bozeman’s own Dan Dubuque entertains on Jan. 23rd. With a show consisting of slide guitar, ukulele, charango, electric and acoustic guitar, he expertly blends these strings into an experimental one-man guitar show.
Solo rock artist Cap’n D.H. Billy is the man with the mic on Jan. 27th. A member of Bluebelly Junction and Petty tribute The Waiting, he plays rock n’ roll standards and plenty of originals.
Last not least, the Pinky Duo tunes up the audience on Jan. 30th. Dustin Tucker and Luke Flansburg will bring the full band’s energy to this toned down but still hugely entertaining set. The show will feature everything from acoustic Pink Floyd covers to originals by both artists, among other selections.
