A spooktacular experience awaits with a visit to Museum of the Rockies late this month. Returning for another round of chills and thrills, Haunted Mountain Theater comes to Taylor Planetarium with performances set for October 20th–31st.
Experience the Northern Rocky Mountains’ spookier history and folklore brought to life through a production that blends live theater with the Taylor Planetarium’s state-of-the-art capabilities.
This year’s production will feature a horrific train crash, gruesome ghosts and a chilling lake monster, all told by a mysterious cowboy with his own tale to tell. Real history, real scares and gripping visuals displayed on the 360° Taylor Planetarium dome are bound to captivate and scare. Based on authentic research, the stories prove one thing, sometimes life is scarier than fiction.
Following the planetarium show, explore the historic Tinsley House by lantern light, if you dare! Experience chilling campfire tales, encounter spirits, and enjoy a seasonal treat.
Performances of Haunted Mountain Theater will be held Friday nights at 6:30pm and 8:30pm, as well as Saturdays and Sundays at 5pm, 6:30pm and 8:30pm. All Hallow’s Eve showings will be held at 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Note: The Friday shows on Oct. 27th will include a special “Pour & Gore” event featuring local libations, appetizers and chocolate for those 21+. Due to some mature content and the dark conditions of the planetarium, this production is recommended for ages 10 and up. Sponsored by Stockman Bank and Color World, tickets are $23 for adults and $13 for kids ages 10 to 17. “Pour & Gore” tickets are $55.
MOR continues to host newly opened changing exhibits Unbridled Spirit: The Photography of Barbara Van Cleve and Zoo in You: The Human Microbiome this fall.
Step into the world of an Unbridled Spirit. This exhibition takes you on a journey through the rugged beauty and fading traditions of the American West through the lens of internationally acclaimed photographer Barbara Van Cleve. View numerous photography themes alongside a carefully curated selection of ranching artifacts from her and MOR’s cultural history collections.
Zoo in You allows museum-goers an opportunity to explore the vibrant world of our inner microorganisms through engaging, interactive, and bilingual exhibits and programs and discover who our constant microbial companions are, where they live, how diverse they are, and in what ways scientists are learning just how important they are to our own health.
MOR is open from 9am–5pm daily. For more information about featured exhibits and to purchase tickets for Haunted Mountain Theater, visit www.museumoftherockies.org. •
