The inaugural Gallatin Skijor Invitational is set to deliver four action-packed days of horsepower, ski power and Western grit this January at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds’ Anderson Arena.
The event takes place over two weekends — Saturday and Sunday, January 17th-18th and January 24th-25th — each offering a distinctly different experience for competitors and spectators alike. Gates open daily at 10am, with racing and on-course action beginning at 10:30am.
The first weekend (Jan. 17th-18th) celebrates the roots of skijoring with a strong Montana, Western, and community-driven feel. This weekend will spotlight developing and regional talent in the Junior, Novice, Snowboard, and Women’s Divisions, creating an authentic atmosphere that honors the sport’s heritage while showcasing the next generation of skijor athletes.
The excitement accelerates during the second weekend (Jan. 24th-25th) as the Gallatin Skijor Invitational evolves into a high-production professional showcase. Featuring two massive video screens, on-course camera crews, and enhanced live coverage via The Cowboy Channel, this weekend will host elite competitors in the Pro, Open, Sport, and SwitchARoo Divisions, with Big Air elements added throughout the course to keep fans cheering.

This professional weekend also serves as a key stop on the Pro Skijoring circuit, with top teams competing for points toward qualification for the Pro Skijor Finals in Salt Lake City, where significant prize money awaits. Spectators can expect fast horses, fearless athletes, and nonstop action as professional teams battle it out in front of packed grandstands.
The Gallatin Skijor Invitational is proudly presented by Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply, whose Montana-rooted values align perfectly with this one-of-a-kind winter event. Additional support comes from a strong lineup of local community partners, including Ressler Chevrolet, Bozeman Spirits, Opportunity Bank, Kenyon-Noble Lumber & Hardware, Bozeman Real Estate Group, and Paradigm Services. Produced with the support of Gallatin Valley TBID funds.
With competitors traveling from across the region and thousands of spectators expected over four days, the Gallatin Skijor Invitational is poised to become one of Bozeman’s signature winter events.
