On Tuesday, April 10th, the Friends of MSU Library Book Club discusses Seize the Day by Saul Bellow at 6:30pm in the second floor board room. Tommy Wilhelm has reached his day of reckoning: family, finances and friends all fading away. In the course of one climactic day he reviews his past mistakes with mysterious philosophizing con man.
Following on Tuesday, April 17th at 6:30pm, the Library Book Club discusses The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton in the second floor board room. Read about NYC in the late 1800s as one man and one woman struggle with propriety and passion. Copies of the book are available to borrow from the second floor Library Reference Desk and other formats including an unabridged recording, Playaway, downloadable audio and ebook. Jack Kligerman will lead this discussion.
Looking ahead, health forum “Acupuncture & the Opioid Crisis: An Ancient Medicine for a Modern Day Epidemic” is set for Monday, April 23rd at 7pm. Join Rhianna Weaver, licensed acupuncturist, for an in depth discussion on the opioid crisis and how acupuncture can heal the body, reduce pain, and cut the need for prescription medications.
Prescription opiates result in more deaths due to overdose than heroin, and it is estimated that two million individuals in the United States are addicted to prescription opioids. Now, more than ever, we must collectively look at an ancient medicine for this modern day epidemic. This talk will discuss the opioid crisis, pain, acupuncture and how it works, as well as detailed scientific research that supports acupuncture for pain management.
Call for artists! The Bozeman Public Library Foundation is seeking submissions for its 2019 Atrium Gallery Exhibition Series. Located in the Library lobby, the gallery will showcase both traditional and innovative contemporary art forms, as well as the work of both established and emerging artists from our region.
The Bozeman Public Library is committed to promoting the visual and aesthetic enhancement of the Bozeman community through this ongoing presentation of rotating exhibits of public art in the Library. Selected pieces and collections will expand public appreciation of art and reflect the diversity of the community. Each exhibit will run for one to three months, determined by the Library Art Committee. Proposals must be received by April 30th.
