Former Bobcat Keljin Blevins Earns NBA Shot
By Danny Waldo
Another former Bobcat cager is getting a shot at the NBA after Keljin Blevins was invited to participate on the Portland TrailBlazers summer league team recently.
Blevins, a 6-6 forward from Hot Springs, Arkansas, played two seasons for the Blue and Gold after transferring from Southern Mississippi, finishing third on the team in scoring after averaging 11.8 points his senior season, while leading the team in rebounding at 5.8 per game.
Blevins saved his best for last, playing a season-high 33 minutes, and scoring a career-high 27 points in Montana State’s quarterfinal loss to Eastern Washington on March 14 in the Big Sky Conference tournament.
Blevins joins fellow Bobcat Tyler Hall on summer league rosters after Hall agreed to spot on the Chicago Bulls roster earlier this summer.
Not only is Blevins getting his shot at the league, he’s doing so with familiar company around, as his cousin, Damian Lillard is the face of the Portland TrailBlazers organization. Lillard was in attendance at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse this past winter to watch his cousin take on the University of North Dakota, and may have been instrumental in Blevins getting his chance to prove himself in the game’s biggest audition.
Blevins will hope to parlay his performance in the summer league into an invitation to the TrailBlazers training camp that begins in September. Ultimately, Blevins would like to be completing for a roster spot for the upcoming NBA season that begins in October.
