Dip into the Filling Station for your live music fix, a local venue that brings in locally celebrated musicians and traveling acts of every genre. The concerts showcase a variety of artists, welcoming diverse audiences to the north Bozeman space with performances held throughout the week.
First up this month, Bozeman bluegrass band Moonlight Moonlight take the stage November 3rd. Salty Gravy and Ella Cole will open the 8pm show. The foursome plays a jammy, up-tempo variety of bluegrass, combining multiple string instruments for a sound that is fun and energetic. Featuring Isaac Winemiller (bass), Kevin Fabozzi (mandolin), Lenka Swenson (fiddle) and Zander Chovanes (guitar), the group takes audiences on a carefree romp to simpler times with original tunes from the soul.
MSU Freeriders, a student-led group that works to keep skiing and snowboarding alive among their university peers, will host a fundraiser show featuring Puddle and Cosmic Sans on Nov. 4th. Music begins at 8pm. Enjoy an evening with tunes by Bozeman’s self-proclaimed “third most popular Nicolas Cage-admiring, comedy-loving musical sextet” and the psychedelic rock band based out of Missoula.
Los Angeles hip-hop artist Ouija Macc brings his “Revelations Tour” to the Filler on Nov. 8th. Doors at 7pm ahead of the show. The evening will feature special guest Darby O’Trill and local support from Filth & Foul with Freestyle Fresh, GangBang, Bubba Scholler and Duke Altman.
North Fork Crossing open for The Timber Rattlers on Nov. 10th with the music set to commence at 9pm. The energetic bluegrass band from Missoula pulls inspiration from their traditional folk roots, but continue to push boundaries in the acoustic genre. Their debut full-length, Last Echo, is available now.
Spend an evening with tribute group 710 Ashbury on Nov. 17th. The Helena-based band lays down all your classic Grateful Dead favorites with every spirited performance.
Following on Nov. 19th, hard rock four-piece Dead Man’s Alibi take the stage. Regional bands 1 Second to Go and Lucy Was Right will open the 7pm show. The Colorado band is driven by a strong DIY ethos and passionate love of psychedelic rock music of the 1970s and 80s that their own draws inspiration from. DMA’s music and live performances transport audiences back in time to an Era where simple, no frills rock n’ roll reigned supreme on the airwaves and on the minds of the public that tuned in.
Early next month, another tribute group comes to the Filler with Mojo Risin on December 2nd. Pony Express will open the 8pm show. Formed with the goal of honoring and celebrating the music of The Doors, the Bozeman-based band is comprised of professional and passionate musicians and a frontman who embodies the soulful and mystic nature of Jim Morrison. From “Light My Fire” to “LA Woman” and everything in between, Mojo Risin’s live shows aim to recreate one of the most influential and controversial rock acts of the 1960s.
